O MNE vai inaugurar a sua nova exposição temporária “Artes de Pecas: Pescadores, Normas, Objectos Instáveis”, no dia 3 de Abril, pelas 18h30. Contamos com a vossa presença!
Exposição que resulta de uma investigação conduzida no terreno, a partir de 2004, em estreita relação com um grande número de pescadores, de muitos locais da costa, associações e instituições que intervêm no domínio das pescas. Dela resultou a constituição de uma coleção de artes de pesca que agora é posta em articulação com a coleção dos anos 1960, já existente no museu. Muitas foram oferecidas pelos pescadores, nossos interlocutores. Outras, resultaram de acordos de colaboração com as várias capitanias marítimas, o que permitiu transferir para o museu artes e instrumentos de navegação apreendidos porque considerados em situação ilegal. A documentação produzida ao longo dos anos de pesquisa dá conta dos discursos dos pescadores sobre as normas que condicionam a sua atividade e se refletem na própria materialidade dos objetos, sua definição e instabilidade: permitidos ou não conforme o momento do ano, os locais, as leis que se foram sucedendo e até a compreensão e avaliação casuística. A recolha procurou preencher a maior diversidade de artefatos e tipos de materiais, técnicas, processos e funcionalidades, sobre a qual elaborar um sistema classificatório de referência para o seu inventário nos museus. O fio condutor da exposição é, por isso, também uma proposta de classificação para as artes de pesca, tomando em conta outras já produzidas por diferentes autores e instituições. A humanidade das práticas de pescas e a compreensão dos seus contextos sociais e organização do trabalho estão expressas nas filmagens feitas durante os anos de pesquisa, observação e constituição da coleção e nas imagens dos pescadores que no início do século XX passaram a ter a sua fotografia nos registos de inscrição marítima e agora habitam a exposição”.

“Exhibition which arose from a field conducted research, since 2004, in close relation with a great number of fishermen from several places of the coast, associations and institutions which intervene in the fishing domain. From it came the creation of a fishing gear collection which is now articulated with the 1960’s collection already existing in the museum. Many were offered by our interlocutor fishermen. Others, came from the agreement of cooperation with several maritime polices which allowed to transfer the gear to the museum, as well as navigation instruments apprehended for being in an illegal situation. The documentation produced along the years of research acknowledges the words of the fishermen concerning the norms which condition their activity and are reflected in the materiality of the objects, its definition and instability: allowed or not according to the time of year, the places, the laws that succeeded and even the casuistry comprehension and evaluation. The gathering sought to fill the biggest diversity of artefacts and material types, techniques, processes and functionalities over which to elaborate a classification system of reference for its inventory in the museums. The guide line of the exhibition is thus a proposition of classification of fishing gear as well, taking in consideration others produced already by different authors and institutions. The humanity of fishing practices and the comprehension of their social contexts and the work organization are expressed in the films made during the years of research, observation and the making of the collection and in the images of the fishermen which in the start of the 20th century began having their picture in the records of maritime enrolment and now inhabit the exhibition”.
