Exposição «Inquéritos ao Território. Paisagem e Povoamento»

«Inquéritos ao Território: Paisagem e Povoamento é uma exposição que coloca em diálogo múltiplos olhares e perspetivas sobre Portugal desde finais do século XIX até à atualidade. Por um lado, os olhares que, em particular nos domínios da Etnologia, da Arquitetura e da Geografia, promoveram a descoberta e o conhecimento sistemático do território e da sua diversidade cultural. Por outro, os olhares de um variado conjunto de artistas que, com recurso à fotografia, e em alguns casos ao filme, tomam o território e a paisagem como objeto da sua produção ou intervenção desde as últimas décadas.

Na exposição é apresentada ao público uma seleção de objetos das coleções do Museu Nacional de Etnologia, colocados em diálogo com os diversos olhares, artísticos ou científicos, que estruturam a narrativa expositiva, sendo dado especial destaque à ilustração da intensa atividade e produção científica da equipa de Jorge Dias, que está na origem da fundação do próprio Museu.

 A exposição resulta de uma parceria estabelecida entre o Museu Nacional de Etnologia e o Centro Internacional das Artes José de Guimarães, com curadoria de Nuno Faria, e constitui uma segunda versão da exposição inicialmente apresentada em Guimarães.

Surveys in the Territory: landscape and settlement

 «“Surveys in the Territory: landscape and settlement” is an exhibition which places in dialogue multiple views and approaches on Portugal from the end of the 19^th century until present day. On the one hand, the views from which, mainly in the field of Cultural Anthropology, Architecture and Geography, resulted the discovery and the systematic knowledge of the territory and its cultural diversity. On the other hand, the views of a variety of artists that, using photography, and in some cases film, have addressed the territory and the landscape as an object of their production or intervention for the last decades.

The exhibition presents a selection of objects of the collections of the National Museum of Ethnology, placed in dialogue with the several views, of artistic or scientifical scope, which structure the exhibition narrative. These objects also highlight the intense activity and scientifical production of Jorge Dias’ team, which stands in the origin of the foundation of the Museum itself.

The exhibition is the result of a partnership between the National Museum of Ethnology and the José de Guimarães International Arts Centre, with the curatorship of Nuno Faria, and is a second version of the exhibition initially presented in Guimarães.
